The backdrop of the Rocky Mountains has attracted many artists to get Back to Nature in Turner Valley. The town has been graced with the presence of many talented artists in such fields as drawing, music, painting, photography, pottery and sculpture. Artwork can be found in local shops, while area musicians are always entertaining at community events held throughout the year.
Beneath the Arch Concert Series
Beneath the Arch is a non-profit music society based in Turner Valley, and is the envy of larger urban concert venues, hosting community supported performances throughout the year.
Sheep Creek Arts Council
The Sheep Creek Arts Council is a volunteer-driven organization based in Turner Valley. The Council’s goal is to inspire the exploration of a variety of arts within the community.
Leighton Art Centre
Located Southwest of Calgary near the communities of Priddis and Millarville, the Leighton Art Centre is a non-profit art gallery, art museum, art store and art school. Admission is by donation and goes towards supporting school programs, family nature and arts programming, artist workshops and exhibitions, and the Centre’s permanent art collection.
Cross Conservation Area
The Ann & Sandy Cross Conservation Area is a 4,800 acre natural day use area donated by Ann and Sandy Cross for the protection of wildlife habitat and conservation education between 1987 and 1996. It is located southwest of Calgary and is dedicated to protecting native habitat, providing conservation education, and encouraging responsible human interactions with nature.
Millarville Farmers’ Market
The Millarville Farmers’ Market is open Saturdays from June-October of each year. The Market is hosted by the Millarville Racing and Agriculture Society, a non-profit organization supported by donations, grants and volunteers.
